DEC to hold session on Water St. brownfield By Doron Tyler Antrim Hudson-Catskill Newspapers (NY) February 23, 2011CATSKILL - A public informational meeting is scheduled for Thursday on Brownfield remediation efforts at the Water Street property where developers hope to build a raw bar and bistro. The New York state Department of Environmental Conservation will host the informational meeting at 7 p.m. in the Catskill High School cafeteria. The agency has approved a report from Central Hudson detailing the multi-year investigation of the site, at 125 Water Street, which used to be home to a gas manufacturing facility. The report states that coal tar, a reddish brown to black oily liquid by-product which formed as a condensate as gas cooled during the manufacturing process, was found in soil samples on the site and the adjacent Union Mills property. ...
