Public and private entities discuss future of redevelopment projects By Olivia Pulsinelli Business Review West Michigan March 10, 2011Attorney John Byl has worked on about 150 brownfield projects over the past decade. Now, he and many others hope similar redevelopment projects can continue in the future. "The brownfield incentives, in my view, have been instrumental to really foster the urban development of brownfield and functionally obsolete and blighted sites across the state," Byl, a partner at Warner, Norcross and Judd, said during the "Creative Brownfield Projects" panel discussion at last week's International Council of Shopping Centers West Michigan Alliance Program. Whether they were representing municipalities, economic developers or private developers, attendees and presenters at the ninth annual event - which focuses on development through public-private partnerships - were united in their concern about the possible changes to Michigan's redevelopment incentives. ...
