DEXTER: Village council puts wellness center project back on track

The Dexter Wellness Center, referred to in documents presented at  
last week's Village Council meeting as the Wellness Center Project,  
is taking a much-needed step forward after spending years in limbo.

The project was initially approved on Oct. 8, 2007, and the developer  
had to pursue extensions in 2009 due to the cratered financial market  
and its effect on growth in the commercial sector across the country.

The county's plan outlines removal of several trace chemicals from  
previous light industrial operations, such as benzene and  
ethylbenzene which come from industrial disposal and use of petroleum  
products and processes on site without currently accepted  
environmental best practices and standards.
