Site set for demo, cleanup GARY HUFFENBERGER Wilmington News-Journal (OH) March 23, 2011An official groundbreaking was held Wednesday for the upcoming demolition and remediation activities at the former Textron site on Nelson Avenue in Wilmington. The Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund (CORF) project in the city was called by Wilmington Mayor David Raizk as "the poster child" for CORF's statewide program in brownfield revitalization. Brownfield revitalization involves cleaning up brownfields to encourage redevelopment and to revitalize communities. ...In July 2010, the state awarded the city of Wilmington a $1.85 million brownfield revitalization grant, enabling the acquisition and cleanup of the vacated Kautex Textron property. Kautex Textron shut down operations in summer 2009. Some of the existing structures on the site will be demolished, and any contaminated soil or groundwater at the former industrial site will be cleaned up. ...
