Groundwater cleanup plan meeting today Staff Reports Chico Enterprise-Record (CA) March 20, 2011CHICO — A public meeting will be held this evening on a plan to clean up polluted groundwater at Chico Municipal Airport. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room 1 of the City Council Chambers, 421 Main St. It is being held by the state Department of Toxic Substances Control so the public can voice concerns or raise questions. In 2002, a remedial action plan was issued to address contamination in soil and groundwater caused by the use of chemicals during business operations at the airport. The primary chemicals of concern include trichloroethylene (TCE). ...According to a fact sheet from the department, Victor Industries Corp. made aluminum tubes and cans at 651 and 681 Liberator St. at the airport, using solvents such as TCE for degreasing. Victor operated there from 1947 to 1958. ...
