Catasauqua moves on developing brownfield siteCouncil seeks consultants to help figure out plan for former F.L. Smidth plant. By Brenda Lange, ALLENTOWN MORNING CALL (PA) April 6, 2011Catasauqua Council on Monday took another step toward acquiring prime borough property by agreeing to interview planning consultants to devise a master plan for the F.L. Smidth site. According to Borough Manager Gene Goldfeder, Catasauqua will split the project's $30,000 cost with Lehigh County. The borough and county have been working together to develop the brownfield site for more than a year. In addition to the $900,000 purchase price tag, one building requires asbestos remediation and the other rbuildings would need to be razed. Even if the borough does not buy the land — and officials continue to hammer out details of the purchase price and other terms — council members want to have a plan for how they would like the property to be developed. ...
