Agency to fund razing of eyesores By Thomas J. Prohaska Buffalo News (NY) May 23, 2011LOCKPORT - Vacant buildings in Lockport and Cambria could be crashing to the ground soon, thanks to funding from the Niagara County Brownfield Development Corp. The county agency, using its supply of funding from the federal government, has awarded $400,000 to Cambria and $200,000 to Lockport for cleanup and demolitions of some long-running eyesores. In Lockport, 71 Gooding St., the former Kohl Motorcycle building, owned by the city because of unpaid taxes, is targeted for razing. In Cambria, half a dozen old buildings on what used to be the Lockport Air Force Station, a radar control facility for the long- defunct Nike Missile base, may be bulldozed. ...
