Legislation offers redevelopment funding source by By DAVID DAVIS Cleveland Banner (TN) May 29, 2011The city of Cleveland has been amended into a bill on its way to the governor’s desk that will have immediate and positive impact on future redevelopment of the existing Whirlpool Cleveland Division plant and complex in downtown Cleveland. House Assistant Majority Leader State Rep. Kevin Brooks cosigned House Bill 1554 that stands to benefit Tennesseans and Tennessee businesses alike with more high-quality jobs and a stronger Bradley County. The legislation authorizes an industrial development corporation to prepare and submit an economic impact plan with respect to an urban brownfield. A brownfield is defined as abandoned, idled or underutilized industrial and commercial facilities where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination. ...
