Concord property to get cleaned Brownfields targeted at hotel site By Victor Whitman Middletown Times Herald-Record (NY) June 3, 2011KIAMESHA LAKE - Concord owner Louis Cappelli's company is about to resume cleanup of the contaminated brownfield areas at the former Concord Resort Hotel - a first sign of life at the abandoned construction site in nearly three years. The Department of Environmental Conservation announced last month that the company, Concord Kiamesha LLC, was about to clean five areas, a project that became derailed in winter 2008. The state accepted 14.5 acres of the hotel site into the Brownfield Cleanup Program in 2005 and 20.5 acres in 2009. Cappelli and Mohegan Sun recently announced a partnership to revive Cappelli's vision of a $600 million racino and hotel resort on the footprint of what, for decades, had been the Catskills' largest hotel. The project famously collapsed after Cappelli couldn't get financing at the recession's bottom. ...
