New cleanup efforts for Superfund site Microbe treatment is fastest route for Plymouth Avenue homes, EPA says by Daniel DeBolt Mountain View Voice (CA) June 14, 2011Support from Mountain View residents may be all that is required to quickly clean up a small toxic groundwater plume at the north end of Sierra Vista Avenue that was left behind by an early Silicon Valley circuit board manufacturer. On June 15 a meeting is set for residents to discuss several options for cleaning up the trichloroethylene (TCE) contamination left behind by CTS Printex, which is said to have dumped the solvent into the groundwater in the 1970s and early 1980s. The contamination has largely moved north from the company's former location, now occupied by three-story town homes at the east end of Plymouth Avenue. But the contamination still presents the potential of toxic vapors being released into the air and into buildings, and has made the groundwater undrinkable. ...
