Johns Manville to be demolished

Site to be cleaned up, developed

VIENNA- The Johns Manville plant near Vienna has been sold, will be demolished and the site will be cleaned up to open the land to potential development.

Bob Childers, a Huntington developer and owner of Structure Resources Inc. and Childers Properties, closed the deal Thursday to buy the property, which covers around 35 acres just outside the Vienna city limits. Childers did not disclose how much he paid for the property.

Work will soon begin on tearing down the plant and clearing the site. Childers has hired Eaves Recycling Inc. of Huntington to handle the demolition work.
