Two downtown buildings torn down in Adams Fire barn, village office demolished due to potential contaminants By Scott Koperski Beatrice Daily Sun (NE) August 22, 2011ADAMS - The village of Adams recently completed a project to demolish two outdated buildings in its downtown area. The old fire barn and village office were demolished thanks to a Brownfield project which works to rid communities of unused buildings that may be contaminated, according to Kim Plouzek, Public Health Solutions emergency and environmental health programs manager. "The sites were both commercial and had potential contaminants," Plouzek said. "For the village, it was definitely a liability they needed to navigate. Brownfield funding breaks down to different categories. It's purpose is for the redevelopment of previous industrial dilapidated or abandoned properties."
