Toxic chemicals may be in soil at Port Clinton apartments

PORT CLINTON -- Residents of The Fountains were invited to a meeting Tuesday evening where environmental and health officials announced there may be toxic chemicals leaching into the soil beneath their homes from the former Standard Products site on Maple Street.

"We know there is contamination at the property line," said John Goulch, an on-scene coordinator with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. "We want to find out what it is, how it's migrated and how to react."
