Little LAKELAND LEDGER (FL) September 28, 2011WINTER HAVEN - Florida Department of Environmental Protection officials will attend Tuesday's Winter Haven public forum on the placement of a new recreation center and swimming pool, according to agency officials. About 150 residents attended Monday's Winter Haven City Commission meeting to protest a proposed plan to build a new recreation center and swimming pool on a former fertilizer plant property, which reports filed with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection say is contaminated with cancer-causing chemicals. City officials planned the public forum to allow more residents the opportunity to give input on the recreation center and pool's future home. ...
