River West environmental certification coming, city says By Nick DeMoss Sand Springs Leader (OK) December 3, 2011City officials appear to be on the verge of receiving critical environmental clearance for construction on the River West Development, capping a six-year series of studies and certifications. City Manager Rocky Rogers received an email Nov. 29 that Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality would award certification signifying the land is safe for development, he said. ...The assessment revealed contaminants linked to petroleum that resulted from underground fuel storage tanks previously housed on the property. However, certification indicates that no immediate action is necessary on the property, but existing soil will need to be capped with new soil, concrete or asphalt during construction. The certification also mandates that any soil removed from the site can not be put back, Rogers said. ...
