Two prospects eyeing purchase of old Kingsport Foundry site By Sharon Hayes Kingsport Times News (TN) December 6, 2011KINGSPORT - The good news: The city has two potential buyers lined up for the old Kingsport Foundry property on Main Street. The not-so-good news: The property must undergo more environmental testing and be designated as a brownfield site, which will cost the city between $70,000 and $100,000 before the land can be sold for development. City staff engineer Steve Robbins told members of the Kingsport Economic Development Board Tuesday that representatives of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation recently visited the foundry property to review the field conditions firsthand.
