Peabody to receive $497k to assist with park cleanup by Justin Rice Boston Globe December 20, 2011Peabody has received $497,000 from the Brownfield Redevelopment Fund to assist with the cleanup of the proposed 45 Walnut Street Park. The grant will fund the removal of contaminated soils and capping the site in order to revitalize a vacant lot that will provide much- needed downtown green space. "Over this past year my administration has pursued additional financial resources to address the remediation costs for the cleanup of the lot; these funds will provide the necessary gap-funding needed to complete the site-wide remediation of the property," Mayor Michael J.
