[CPEO-BIF] Facebook to re-clean Menlo Park, California site

I'm used to responsible parties and cleanup volunteers trying to minimize active removal and treatment, so it was refreshing to receive a letter today from California's Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) describing Facebook's proposed Menlo Park [California] West [Office] Campus. The letter says:

"The previous owners conducted a DTSC-approved cleanup action that included removal of a total of approximately 4,615 cubic yards of contaminated soil, installation of an engineered cap over PCB-impacted soils, a groundwater monitoring program, and a land use covenant that continues to restrict uses of the Site. These actions cleaned up the property to levels protective for commercial/industrial land uses, such as the office use proposed for the West Campus.

"Even though the Site meets standards required by law Facebook wants to voluntarily make the Site even cleaner than it currently is. DTSC will review and approve an appropriate cleanup proposal. At that time, a fact sheet will be sent to you providing a summary of the proposed cleanup activities and giving you an opportunity to review and comment on those activities."
