City going to bond holder with Lockport Road repair issues By Mark Scheer Niagara Gazette (NY) April 4, 2012NIAGARA FALLS - The city of Niagara Falls has contacted the bonding company for the reconstruction of Lewiston Road to express its concerns about the pace of the project. The contractor hired to rebuild the road said Wednesday his firm remains "ready, willing and able" to finish the job but the city needs to do a few things on its end before his company can do so. ...Pfeiffer suggested the need to remove significant amounts of radioactive slag materials from beneath Lewiston Road caused the overall project budget to far exceed initial estimates.
