Comment period open for Coleman site cleanup plan By Beccy Tanner Wichita Eagle (KS) April 8, 2012Kansans have from now through May 9 to comment on a Kansas Department of Health and Environment plan for cleaning the groundwater and soil contamination at the Coleman South Site in Wichita. The draft plan, available for the public to review at the city of Wichita Environmental Health Office in Wichita and at the KDHE office in Topeka, outlines activities to address the contamination. The contamination site is at 250 N. St. Francis in Wichita, where a Coleman manufacturing plant stood before being torn down in 2011. Use of the site was limited because of the contamination, so a parking lot was put in. ...
