2 former industrial sites in Ilion may be contaminated By STEPHANIE SORRELL-WHITE GateHouse News Service/Utica Observer-Dispatch (NY) May 31, 2012Illion - Two former industrial sites in the village of Ilion will undergo action in the coming months after the state Department of Environmental Conservation deemed them as potential hazardous waste sites. The two sites - the former Morgan-Duofold site on Spruce Street and the former Prine Cleaners site on Vosburg Street - have been areas of concern for The Ilion Project group, which has been drawing attention to possibly contaminated sites throughout the village. "We're thrilled the DEC is taking this seriously and that they're not overlooking Ilion," said Carrie Firestone, co-founder of The Ilion Project.
