State DEC asking for public's help on clean up of Herkimer brownfield

The state Department of Environmental Conservation will be taking  
public comments in regard to the clean up of the former Homogeneous  
Metals, Inc. facility in Herkimer, according to a news release.

The 7.7 acre site consists of five buildings, portions that were used  
as a water pump station and electric power generating facility for  
the better half of the 1900s. The DEC’s investigations intend to  
identify the source of contamination in soil and/or groundwater,  
assess the impact and fill any gaps within previous investigations,
