EPA seeks to test Hatboro homes near Raymark Superfund site By Caitlin Burns Montgomery News (PA) June 27, 2012The Environmental Protection Agency has approached the Hatboro Borough Council about the ongoing contamination at the Raymark Superfund site located at 200 Jacksonville Road June 25. The site, which once housed a metal fabrication shop, was discovered to be contaminating soil and water around it in 1979. Since then the contaminated ground water has been treated so it is safe for human consumption. However, according to EPA representatives Jose Redmond and Alex Mandell, there are concerns about vapor intrusion to nearby houses. "We want to make sure everyone is safe in their homes," Redmond said, remedial project manager for the Raymark site. "There was a small amount of contamination. We decided to go through a vapor intrusion study of the houses near the wells." Redmond said 10 houses along the 200 block of Bonair Avenue in Hatboro will be tested for vapor intrusion if homeowners will give them permission.
