Simi development gets more time despite contamination concerns By Mike Harris Ventura County Star (CA) July 25, 2012Simi Valley Mayor Bob Huber didn't want a repeat of the city's June 20 Planning Commission meeting, which was marked by an environmental activist's disruptions. At last week's City Council meeting, Huber made it clear he would not tolerate similar disturbances from opponents of a planned residential development in Runkle Canyon who fear the site might have radioactive contamination. ...For years, project opponents have raised concerns about possible radioactive and chemical contamination in Runkle Canyon because it abuts the Santa Susana Field Laboratory.
