3 local projects part of brownfield initiative By Craig S. Semon WORCESTER TELEGRAM & GAZETTE (MA) August 26, 2012Brownfield projects in Central Massachusetts are slowly reclaiming blighted land and readying it for productive use. Projects in Worcester, Grafton and Gardner are among sites that are part of the pilot Brownfield Support Team Initiative launched in 2008 by Gov. Deval Patrick and Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Murray. The initiative is a collaborative effort by environmental and economic development agencies to help communities clean up contaminated sites and prepare them for redevelopment. "The initiative is based on collaboration across all levels of government, and the work is paying off with real opportunities for growth and revitalization in some of our most complex, contaminated sites," Mr. Murray said. ...
