Demolition continuing at former Homogeneous Metals site

Herkimer, N.Y. - Demolition at the former Homogeneous Metals facility  
in the village of Herkimer continues as part of a statewide  
environmental clean-up program.


According to information from the state Department of Environmental  
Conservation's Environmental Remediation Database website, the former  
Homogeneous Metals is being demolished through the brownfield cleanup  
program.


The site - which is still owned by Homogeneous Metals, in Clayville -  
is on West Canada Boulevard, consists of four parcels and is "roughly  
pie shaped and totals 7.7 acres." The site is bounded on the north by  
East German Street, to the east by West Canada Creek, to the south by  
lands owned by National Grid and to the west by lands owned by  
Algonquin Power Corporation.
