Amphenol agrees to $1M settlement in contamination lawsuit by Steve Reilly Binghamton Press and Sun-Bulletin (NY) November 20, 2012SIDNEY - A federal lawsuit accusing one of the Southern Tier’s largest employers of contaminating the ground beneath a Delaware County neighborhood has ended in a settlement worth nearly $1 million. Last year, a group of residents and property owners alleged Sidney- based Amphenol Corp. was liable for the release of “a plume of toxic chemicals” that migrated through soils and groundwater into a neighborhood adjacent to the plant, releasing toxic vapors into homes. In a settlement signed in September and approved by U.S. District Court Judge David E. Peebles on Oct. 22, Amphenol did not admit liability or fault but agreed to pay the plaintiffs $725,000. ...
