Hilltown couple loses appeal over DEP's solution for TCE in wells By Theresa Hegel Intelligencer Reported (PA) February 15, 2013 A Hilltown couple who were upset over how the state handled groundwater contamination in their neighborhood recently lost an appeal to the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board. Michael and Debbie Barron's Route 313 home was one of 35 in Hilltown and Bedminster that the state Department of Environmental Protection had targeted as having elevated levels of trichloroethylene, a degreaser known as TCE. More than a decade ago, the state began monitoring what they call the Morris Run TCE site, which encompasses homes along Blue School Road, Minsi Trail and Route 313. The contamination was originally discovered by the Bucks County Health Department in 1986, when well samples showed about 120 parts per billion of TCE.
