Equitable Brownfields Revitalization: Tools for ProgressThis day and a half long workshop will explore the connections between brownfields revitalization, environmental justice, equitable development, and the issues that have made integrating these often- complementary efforts difficult and challenging. TUESDAY, MAY 14 - 1:00 - 5:00 PM (Part one) Location: GWCC, Room B 202 WEDNESDAY, MAY 15 - 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM (PART two) Location: GWCC, Room B 314 DESCRIPTION:Meeting participants will hear from community leaders on how they have forged successful partnerships between brownfields revitalization, equitable development and environmental justice. They will also explore why tying these efforts is critical and necessary to revitalize America’s disadvantaged communities, grow the economy, and create healthy and sustainable communities. This event will also focus on building the capacity of participants to engage in brownfield revitalization issues in their neighborhoods, communities and regions. Tools, resources and strategies will be introduced through panel discussions and peer-to-peer exchange. On Tuesday, May 14, there will be an afternoon training on Cultural Competence from 1 – 5 pm for up to 25 attendees. On Wednesday, May 15, there will be an all-day workshop on brownfields and equitable development for up to 60 attendees. Please note: a registration fee (separate from the general conference registration fee) is required for the Tuesday training and the Wednesday workshop.
