El Margarita wells face testing after groundwater contamination By Griffin Rogers Marysville Appeal-Democrat (CA) May 20, 2013 When Rick Butler's father became ill in February 2012, he never thought the cause was the well water his parents drank and showered in every day. He shrugged off a friend's advice to check the family's personal well. His parents had been living in the same house since the '70s, and he refused to believe the water was seriously harming them. "At that time, like everyone else, I put it on the back burner," he said. But when his father - a nonsmoker and nondrinker - was diagnosed with liver and lung cancer four months later, Butler realized he might have been wrong, he said.
