Cuomo administration open to brownfield changes by Jon Campbell Rochester Democrat and Chronicle (NY) December 2, 2013ALBANY - Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration said it is open to reforming the state's tax-credit system for redeveloping contaminated sites after a pair of reports criticized the effectiveness of the incentive. Since 2006, New York’s Brownfield Cleanup Program has doled out $1.1 billion to companies to clean up and redevelop 131 sites across the state, according to a report from Environmental Advocates of New York. Peter Constantakes, a spokesman for the state Department of Environmental Conservation, said the program has "encouraged private- sector cleanups of abandoned brownfields and provided an important mechanism to redevelop and reuse these sites." ...
