Mill site still work in progress
City of Greenwood considers next steps for Kitson Street property

The former mill site on Kitson Street has come a long way in the last year.

This time a year ago, crews were busy removing massive piles of jagged rubble and debris from the long-defunct industrial site, clearing up what was an eyesore for years. Now, the site is virtually empty, an open space of land waiting for the next step.

Among the contaminants found in soil samples on the Kitson Site were polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), arsenic, cobalt, chromium +6 and dieldrin.
