contamination rejected
By Kelley Christensen Montana Standard December 27, 2013The Atlantic Richfield Co. responded Thursday to a court ruling filed earlier this week that tossed out a case against the company brought by residents of Opportunity. Residents claimed the Anaconda Co.'s Washoe smelter caused environmental degradation that reduced property values and the ability for residents to enjoy their properties.Butte-Silver Bow district court Judge Brad Newman dismissed the lawsuit because statutory limitations had lapsed. Robert Miner, a spokesman for BP, of which Atlantic Richfield is a subsidiary company, said in an email to The Montana Standard Thursday that thecompany is pleased with the decision. ...
