Elmwood Park being surveyed for health issues KSDK TV-5 News (St. Louis, Missouri) January 29, 2014 ST. LOUIS COUNTY – There's a health concern in north St. Louis County involving a number of households. Health officials are going door-to-door, trying to see how many people may be having problems because of a chemical spill three decades ago. The Elmwood Park neighborhood was built in an area where the old chemical plant Missouri Metals used to operate. The plant shut down about 30 years ago. As it turns out, the site is contaminated with a substance called TCE.
