Big-box retailer seeks Brownfield remediation incentives in Miami-Dade by Brian Bandell South Florida Business Journal February 12, 2014A national retailer and grocery chain, most likely Wal-Mart, is seeking state incentives to remediate and develop a Brownfield site in southwest Miami-Dade County. The county commission will hear the proposal by the confidential company on Feb. 19. The Brownfield Redevelopment Bonus wouldn't cost the county anything, but the state would subsequently have to approve the award of up to $360,000 from its own money. The company has pledged to create 180 full-time jobs with annual wages of $20,000 - well below the county average - and invest $9.5 million in capital improvement to build an 112,534-square-foot store. The agenda item doesn't specify a location but says it would be in the County Commission District 10, which includes part of Kendall, Westchester and Fontainebleau. ...
