Lawsuit: Old plant is behind sickness By JUSTIN STORY Bowling Green Daily News (KY) March 8, 2014A former Scottsville brake pad manufacturer released cancer-causing agents into the environment, a lawsuit filed Thursday in Allen County claims.
Twenty plaintiffs are named in the complaint filed in Allen Circuit Court that is intended for certification as a class-action lawsuit against Federal-Mogul Products Inc.
The plaintiffs, who all live near or worked at the manufacturer at 2640 Old Gallatin Road, brought the lawsuit on behalf of themselves and all others within a 5-mile radius of the facility who may have suffered because of the release of pollutants.
The 17-page lawsuit claims the now-shuttered Scottsville facility released the chemicals trichloroethylene (TCE) and 1,2 dichloroethylene (DCE) into the surrounding environment at toxic levels, resulting in air and groundwater contamination.
