New life for North Olean? Public input sought for brownfields

OLEAN - Even after decades of virtually no use, a large section of North Olean may play a role in reviving the local economy.

For about two hours Tuesday night, officials from Bergmann Associates, a Rochester-based engineering firm, held a workshop at the John J. Ash Community Center on the what the future might hold for the city’s brownfields. The city hired Bergmann in August 2012 as a consultant agency to study the brownfields and their potential reuse. About 15 city residents attended the meeting.

Tuesday’s meeting is the latest step taken in bringing new life to the dormant industrial zone.
