$100K given for cleanup, redevelopment of Lift-Tech brownfield site
in Muskegon Heights
By Stephen Kloosterman Muskegon Chronicle (MI) June 11, 2014MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI - Part of a sprawling brownfield site will be cleaned up and reclaimed for industry. The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality on Monday, June 9, announced it was awarding $100,000 to the city of Muskegon Heights for future development of the former Lift-Tech site, 414 W. Broadway. The grant will pay for environmental investigations, removal of contaminated soil and liability protection for purchasers of contaminated property. Part of the 20-acre brownfield site will be redeveloped by Versatile Fabrication. Versatile President Joe Balaskovitz said his company continues to work out the details of the expansion for the city of Muskegon. He said the city has been helpful in working on the project so far. ...
