Sen. Chris Murphy tours downtown Torrington, highlights need for additional brownfield remediation By Ryan Flynn Torrington Register Citizen CT) August 7, 2014 TORRINGTON - U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Connecticut, toured downtown Torrington Wednesday, led by Mayor Elinor Carbone, two other local dignitaries and an escort of police and government aides. Carbone pointed out some highlights—KidsPlay Museum on Main Street, the recently-opened Irish pub O’Connor’s Public House on East Main Street—before halting at Five Points Gallery to view some of the artwork on display. State Reps. Michelle Cook, D-65, and Roberta Willis, D-64, joined Carbone and Murphy on the downtown tour. Murphy chatted with artist Jason Wallengren, whose work will be on display during the opening reception of “When Marco Polo Saw Elephants” this Friday at Five Points at 6 p.m. Kathryn Myers and Ebenezer Singh will also be featured.
