Milpitas city, school district officials meet to discuss new school site sale By Ian Bauer Milpitas Post (CA) August 28, 2014 It appears City of Milpitas and Milpitas Unified School District will move forward together in a new spirit of cooperation toward building a kindergarten through sixth grade school in southern Milpitas. But first both parties must agree to deal points of a pending sale agreement of a school site parcel located along the 1700 block of McCandless Drive … Matsuoka said the process of going through the California Department of Toxic Substances Control review as well as meet California Environmental Quality Act requirements to determine if the McCandless Drive site had hazardous substances beneath the ground might be lengthy, hence the 18-month time frame. "That's the most likely scenario, I think we will probably be closing in 12 months," Matsuoka said. "I think the reason the 18 months is that there are some unknowns with CEQA with the soil mitigation ... this was language that was suggested by our (legal) counsel; the goal is to do this as fast as possible." … For the entire article, see http://www.mercurynews.com/milpitas/ci_26419005/milpitas-city-school-district-officials-meet-discuss-new -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope Street Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650-961-8918 or 650-969-1545 Fax: 650-961-8918 LSiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Brownfields mailing list Brownfields@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/brownfields-cpeo.org | |
