State loan to aid NVF site cleanup by Jeff Montgomery Wilmington News Journal (DE) August 30, 2014Delaware's environmental agency has issued a $425,739 low-interest mortgage to a private developer partner hoping to redevelop the former NVF Superfund cleanup site in Yorklyn, the second such subsidy under a federally funded program to support "brownfield" cleanups.
Auburn Village LLC will pay 1 percent for the loan, issued to help fund asbestos removal and other cleanup projects during demolition of plant buildings.
The work is part of a wider, 340-acre master plan for Auburn Valley, centered on Yorklyn and the Auburn Heights preserve in the Red Clay Valley near the Pennsylvania line.
