New Leadership for New York Brownfields Group Jody Kass steps down New Partners for Community Revitalization, a leading New York brownfields advocacy group has announced a new leadership line-up. At an NPCR Board of Directors meeting Tuesday, Sept. 30th, Val Washington was elected as the group’s new president and board chair. Washington, an environmental attorney with a long history dealing with New York State brownfields policy, replaces James Tripp, a senior counsel at the Environmental Defense Fund as chair of the board. Tripp is stepping down after serving as the group’s long-term board chairman. Jody Kass, NPCR’s president and executive director, has also stepped down. Kass, a widely regarded expert on state and national brownfields policy, was a co-founder of the organization, along with Mathy Stanislaus, currently Assistant Administrator of the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response at the federal Environmental Protection Agency.
