More toxins found at El Cajon school District report finds chemicals in more rooms By Joel Hoffmann Sam Diego Union Tribune (CA) November 26, 2014A second parent at Magnolia Elementary in El Cajon has transferred her son over concerns about toxic chemicals, as a new report shows the problem affects more areas of the school than previously known. Officials say they remain convinced the school is safe.Parent Tanya Brown moved her pre-kindergartner to another district school earlier this month. Brown said her son had been sick with cold- like symptoms, including throat irritation, since he started at Magnolia in August. While Brown doesn’t know if the symptoms stem from any chemical exposure, she said she is getting her son tested to be safe. “Any amount of toxins is too much for my child,” Brown said. “If this was a restaurant or something, so be it. We wouldn’t have to go there. But this is a school where children spend six hours a day.” Brown said she learned about a new Cajon Valley Union School District report on the chemicals from another parent, and wished the district had warned her and others about problems at the Greenfield Drive school. ...
