Update on G&B project in Georgetown

More than 75 residents attended a special public forum in Redding on  
Monday, Nov. 17, pertaining to the Gilbert & Bennett wire mill site  
in Georgetown.

Though Redding First Selectman Julia Pemberton did not have any  
"momentous" news about the future of the project, residents were  
brought up to date on the decade-old project.

Ms. Pemberton gave a brief synopsis of the history of the brownfield  
site that dates back to 1818 when the site was an operating wire mill  
producing wire mesh, screen, and fencing.

The village of Georgetown is composed of portions of Weston, Redding,  
Wilton, and Ridgefield. The wire mill is located in the Redding  
section of Georgetown.
