CITY OF NEWBURGH – Hudson Valley Lighting is aborting its two-year-old plan to build a $16 million facility on a contaminated former landfill in the City of Newburgh, putting the end to a project that had drawn federal and state grants and promised to keep jobs in the city.

Owner David Littman and Newburgh officials confirmed Monday the high-end lighting company’s decision to abandon plans for the state-designated Brownfield site. As part of the Brownfield program, HVL stood to reap millions worth of tax credits for restoring the property to commercial use.
