Solar farm plans cancelled at closed Superfund landfill in Mount Olive By PHIL GARBER New Jersey Hills April 8, 2015 MOUNT OLIVE TWP. – There will be no solar farm built atop the defunct Combe Fill North landfill and officials are blaming the decision on state intransigence. Mayor Rob Greenbaum said on Monday that Syncarpha Capital, a New York based private equity firm, has decided to cancel plans to build a 14,000 kW solar project on the closed, Superfund landfill. The company first unveiled its plans in 2013 but it could not get the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to agree to pay to bolster parts of the 156-acre landfill to support installation of solar panels. The proposal was to generate 10 to 15 megawatts of power and provide an estimated $400,000 in leasing revenues paid by Syncarpha to the township.
