Lower Providence supervisors to consider townhouse plan By Carl Rotenberg Norristown Times Herald (PA) July 11, 2015 LOWER PROVIDENCE - The conditional use hearing on a plan for 139 townhouses at the intersection of River Road and Germantown Pike will be held by the board of supervisors at 7:30 p.m., July 16, at the township building. In February the board approved zoning changes to permit townhouses in the I-industrial district with a conditional use hearing. W.B. Homes Inc. of North Wales has plans to build 139 townhouses on a 35-acre “western” parcel at the River Road intersection and 12 single-family homes on a 4.5-acre, “eastern” parcel off Cross Keys Road. At a May 21 board meeting, the developer’s plan to deal with trichloroethylene (TCE) contamination in one area of the development was discussed by state Department of Environmental Protection officials. The contaminated area is located in the northeast corner of the parcel, between the proposed townhouses and part of the Superior Tube plant, said Michael Mrozinski, the Lower Providence zoning officer. TCE is a nonflammable, colorless liquid that is used mainly as a solvent. TCE contamination was discovered in the ground owned by Superior Tube. One part of the plan is to install a 2-foot soil cap and fencing around the area to prevent damage to the soil cap. All of the townhomes will be connected to the public water supply. … For the entire article, see http://www.timesherald.com/general-news/20150711/lower-providence-supervisors-to-consider-townhouse-plan -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope Street Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650-961-8918 or 650-969-1545 Fax: 650-961-8918 LSiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Brownfields mailing list Brownfields@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/brownfields-cpeo.org | |
