Fight intensifies over toxics clean-up by Amawalk luxury-home site by David McKay Journal News (NY) July 16, 2015 The discovery of lead contamination at an abandoned shooting range along the Amawalk Reservoir in Somers derailed developer John Harkins’ plans in the early 2000s to begin building 23 luxury homes by the source of drinking water for thousands of residents. More than a decade later, Harkins remains committed to the Granite Pointe project that his company, Suelain Realty, Inc., proposed in 1993.
