New round of soil sampling raises questions Nick Reynolds Ithaca Journal (NY) October 9, 2015 Another round of testing related to contamination from the former Ithaca Gun Factory was conducted last week, a DEC official confirmed. Tests have been conducted on behalf of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on soil vapor beneath homes in the Fall Creek neighborhood by Ithaca Falls since 2013, revealing toxic materials including TCE, or trichloroethene. Twelve of 43 homes contacted by the DEC were tested in February and March, according to results released last month. Five of the 12 homes will receive additional monitoring.
