Groundbreaking for new multimillion-dollar development happening at Hazelwood mill site

PITTSBURGH - The old LTV steel mill site in Pittsburgh's Hazelwood neighborhood is undergoing a transformation into a multimillion-dollar development.

Developers broke ground Friday morning on the 178-acre Almono property, named for the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers.

The development will be reflective of the South Side Works, and will include commercial and residential properties.

However, developers say it will be an upgrade over South Side Works, boasting office, light industry, technology and residential space, featuring renewable, alternative energy, with its own water treatment system.
